Gov Willie Obi.ano has unveiled ongoing plans to elevate the state-owned Nwafor Orizu College of Education, (NOCEN) in Anambra East council area of the state to a University.
Chief Obiano disclosed this during the 23rd Convocation  Ceremony of the Federal College Of Education, Technical, Umunze, Ornmba South Council of the state where he was Distinguished as a fellow of the institution.
The Governor revealed that his administration had earlier in the year converted the College of Agriculture, Mgbaukwu to a Polytechnic. He explained that the upgrade is in line with his administration’s policy on re-positioning the State’s education students with quality training and skills. He stated that through qualitative ethicatio n winch the citadel of learning would offer, their graduates would become entrepreneurs with the capacity to add value and to contribute than quota towards the development of the sane, the nanon and humanity at large. Gov Obi.ano ascertained that this would consequently reduce the heavy dependence by graduates on government to provide jobs as well as creating the opportunity for the ingenuity and latent talents of Ndi Anambra to find full expression.
He commended the Provost of the College, Prof Joseph., Ogbuagu for the uncommon transformation he has brought to the school, adding that the College constitutes a viable partner in the training of mid-level technical manpower industries that are coming up in their numbers in the sta., He assured that his administration would continue to assist the College decorated with the Fellowship ward   of the College… ceremony. The Provost expressed his gratitude’s, outstanding achievements and performance as well as congratulated him on the award, pointing out that it was in recognition of his laudable achievements in the state as well as his contributions towards the growth of the college.
